Wasting Internets

Spending the majority of your time in an office where all of the most interesting things aren't allowed to be public knowledge makes for terribly boring posts.

Things that I remember doing this week:

1. Watched Less Than Zero. I really liked it. Robert Downey, Jr. never fails and drug addiction one of my top two favorite genres (pregnancy being the other one). I would have liked it better if Andrew McCarthy was a better kisser.... but at least he had some scenes on the edgier side. Hated the last minute. Overall, though, I enjoyed it.

2. Watched the series finale of My So-Called Life, this time with Corina for her first time. Then cried over the tragedy again (not literally cried, but definitely flailed on her bed in despair).

3. Discussed the funniest salad dressings with Kevin and then wrote a song about it (balsamic vinegar-- it has balls in the front).

4. Learned that my new lotion regime makes me go through lotion at an alarming rate. More disturbingly, I do have a couple of lotions that I BELIEVE are very perfume-y, as well as leave you glittery. I've had a continuous inner debate over whether or not being glittery and smelly is worth the money saved but remain torn.

I refuse to stop blogging just because I have nothing to say.

Added later:
1. Failed to mention that Sarah!! is going to be joining in what I'm now calling my Birthday Extravaganza: I Now Have 'the Force' and Can Tractor Beam in My Loved Ones up to Three Thousand Miles for Limited Periods of Time (I may shorten the title...)

2. Learned that Tina Fey is pregnant, as announced during her promotion of her book Bossypants on Oprah. Then I read all the pages I could on Amazon and NEARLY bought it before I felt bad about spending the money. And then I thought about the author I WOULD spend money on-- David Sedaris. So I looked him up and he HAS A NEW BOOK. Or new as of 2010. Score. Bought it.

I think being glittery can be fun... but that may be because I work from home and nobody cares what I look like. So maybe it's unprofessional, but I really have no experience in that area.

I REALLY dislike Andrew McCarthy. I feel like he screwed up Pretty in Pink, and I feel like he was just one of the worst possible casting choices for Less Than Zero (even at the most basic level: that character is supposed to be Latino). I also hated the girl they cast as Blair. But Robert Downey, Jr. was definitely great in it. And to be honest, I don't even really like that book... so I don't know why I feel so strongly about it, but I do. Obviously I have latent aggression related to the casting choices for some reason.

I heard Bossypants is really funny but I can't get past the weirdass cover.

What kind of lotion do you use? It is unscented?

I do hope you continue to blog despite having nothing to say because, well, I'll still read it and laugh. Your birthday extravaganza sounds fabulous! I want to go to California! But alas, no money. My boyfriend and I half seriously keep talking about taking a cross country road trip. LA would be an included destination. Should this dream become a reality, expect a phone call and the arrival of 2 lonely travelers.

Claire- My lotion has a scent, but the reason I think these new ones are too perfume-y is because my aunt who gave them to me gave me corresponding actual perfumes that are too perfume-y. They're the same scent. I guess I should just open them up and see if they are too perfume-y and too glittery, but I don't want to break the plastic because... I half want to find a way to get rid of them.

Andrew McCarthy... I do HATE him in Pretty in Pink, but I have a soft spot for him because of St. Elmo's Fire. Also, I really like his smile. Plus, I'm pretty sure I love him in Class, but I can't remember. DEFINITELY agree about the girl though.

Monique - I HIGHLY encourage a cross-country road trip, although with gas at $4 per gallon (at least it is here. $4.12 at my CHEAP station!!!!), I bet that would be INFINITELY more expensive than flying. But maybe you'll see the largest tampon or something...

$4.12 a gallon?! Holy SHIT how do you survive?!!

...And you're right, I do like Andrew McCarthy a lot in St. Elmo's Fire...
